Circumstance: Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
Time: 10:37 PM
Location: Kay's Express Convenience Store (28 Stroud Street Marion N.C. 28752)
Suspect: David Allen Whittington
Charge: Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
On Friday March 16, 2018, Officers with the Marion Police Department received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at a local Convenience Store. The clerk at Kay's Express (28 Stroud Street, Marion) informed officers that a white male (later determined to be Whittington) had entered the store and began to walk around.
Whittington approached the counter, with two items from the store, and then demanded money from the register. The clerk reported that Whittington made mention that he was armed during this encounter (the weapon was not displayed). Whittington obtained $100.00 in cash and left the store with the money, as well as the two items from the store (a sausage and a coke).
Officers with the McDowell County Sheriff's Office assisted the Marion Police Department in searching the area for Whittington who had left on foot. The store's surveillance video was reviewed, and it was determined that Whittington was the suspect in this incident.
Whittington was located a short time later at a residence and was taken into custody. During his arrest, a Walther CO2 style pellet pistol was located on his person. Whittington was charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. He was placed into the custody of the McDowell County Jail under a $65,000.00 secured bond.
