The Support Services Commander oversees the department's School Resources Officers, who are located at every school within the city limits of Marion. As well as the City Ordinance Officer, handling parking, animal complaints and other city ordinance issues.

Lt. Harklerode also serves as the department Training Coordinator. In 2023, officers with the Marion Police Department had a total of 4,557 training hours. This is a combination of state mandated in-service, departmental mandated training as well as other types of training to further an officer's education in their career.
